"j": start of construction 1975, finished 1976 … and still running

at the end of the world

160 days, 29,457 km, 13 Countries

We arrived at the end of the World. Maybe not as expected, just with one motorcycle, but we are here.

It was an exciting finish. Steve and Judy, with whom we wanted to ride the first kilometers, had very bad luck. In the middle of nowhere, 13okm from Punta Arenas and 3okm before the Argentinian border, but still far away from the nearest town, a chain in the engine of their Harley broke. It took almost 5 hours to get help and until their motorcycle was loaded onto a pickup truck.

Andi and I crossed the border around 7pm. We fought our way almost 300km through wind and weather and arrived in Ushuaia at 10:30pm. The photo finish had to wait until the next day. The report in detail will follow shortly.

I am very happy. It already was a great adventure and I – or, for the next three months, We – can’t wait for the experiences going north.

Thanks to my readers, I hope you will accompany me for the rest of my journey.

Next destination: Prudhoe Bay, Alaska … the other end of the world.

Greetings, Jürgen.
